This inspection is a follow-up to HMCPSI’s 2019 report on case progression in the Serious Fraud Office (SFO).
It reviews the SFO’s progress towards implementing the seven recommendations made in that report. Where possible, it also reviews the SFO’s responses to two major external reviews of the organisation by Sir David Calvert-Smith and Brian Altman KC, both of which were published in 2022.
This report makes three new recommendations that build on the ones in the 2019 report. HMCPSI will work with the SFO in the coming months, with the aim of meeting these new recommendations by March 2024.
