Supervision
In our core inspections, we examine the quality of work in individual cases, with our inspection standards based on the well-established ASPIRE model for case supervision:
- Assessment
- Sentence Planning
- Implementation
- Review
- Evaluate
The model recognises that for delivery to be tailored to the individual child, both assessment and planning must be undertaken well. Furthermore, as set out in the figure below, the process is cyclical, reflecting the research evidence that positive development and desistance can be a gradual, non-linear and multidimensional process, with thoughtful consideration needing to be given to how relapses should be dealt with. Across the stages, we consider the sufficiency of the focus on helping the child move towards a pro-social life, while also helping to keep everybody safe.
